Practising on Training Heads Before Real Clients

How to make practice count

Almost everyone learns hair extension fitting on a training head first. It is safe, it is repeatable and it lets you make mistakes without anyone feeling them.

What a training head teaches

  • Sectioning in even, tidy rows
  • How much hair to take for each piece
  • How the extension should sit against the scalp
  • How long each step really takes

How to practise well

Time yourself, then slow down. Speed comes from clean, repeatable habits, not from rushing. Take photographs of each row and look for gaps, bumps and uneven spacing.

Know when to move on

Practise until your rows are consistently even before you offer to work on a person. A teacher can tell you when you are ready.

Ask the provider

Find out whether the course includes a training head, whether you keep it, and how much time you spend on it. If you are enquiring about Liverpool dates, put those questions in your first message.

Get a place

Message the provider to ask which Liverpool date has a place, what is in the starter kit and how to get there.
